It means I’m closer to 30 than I am 20. I always thought 26 sounded “kinda” old. I still do…but it’s more disappointing in regards to having not really gone as hard with the DJing in 2011 than I had intended to. We all intend on doing something, not many do it
Still, there’s no time to sit and mope! I’ve got two 20-min mini-mix bangers due to come out next week that’ll no doubt blow your mind! And a full write up on this “project” of mine. It’s annoying how if I ever mention lights ON my head (like literally STUCK onto my head) it gets labelled as some kind of Deadmau5 impersonation. I haven’t got a mousehead…and, well it won’t be nearly as big!
Gig-wise, I’ve got a gig being setup in Russia for March (could have been February but work gets in the way) at The_Club in St. Petersburg..hopefully a prototype of my head pieces will be ready before then!

Following on from the well received Dubset mix I did a while back, I’ve just finished doing another installment to the madness. It’s certainly different in the sense that there’s less remixes of older tracks, and favours more bass-dub heavy selections. Whilst I’ve tried to avoid the squelchy Robot Pr0n as per the “brostep” sub-genre of dubstep, it couldn’t be completely avoided.

Something I wanted to get round to making a post about when I saw the tweets and FB posts doing the rounds. Murder Mark is a producer from Baltimore, MA. His stuff’s been doing the rounds since he started making Bmore Club music in ’08. Initially with his “The Party Starter EP” and various big hits with other Bmore club DJ’s and artists. His mixtapes are always on point showing you where Bmore is going and what you should be listening to.
Now he’s released a new Remix Project: Murder Mark Presents #Jacked
I don’t know what possessed me, but I did this about a week or so ago. 2 hours and 25 minutes of House music! Funky, Soulful, Deep, Latin, World house…It’s been called “soft” and I guess in comparison to what I normally play, yeah it is soft!

So, I’m not really big on monitoring all and sundry that’s going on around me, but these girls are definitely worth keeping tabs on. Be it through their random (and sometimes funny) status updates or following their tumblr, something is always going on!
I first heard of them in the running promotion for a Bump Bump night and went on a wee hunt through their videos:
So first up is a new mix I did today. Just under 30-minutes of hard hitting Drumstep.
Drumstep is essentially a sub-genre (of sorts) from Drum and Bass. It varies between 170-180 beats per minute (bpm) and can be distinguished by the half-time kick and snare structure with the typical 16-note hi-hat rhythm riding on top. Thusly half the track makes you want to move at around 85-90bpm whilst the hi-hats and additional features make you want to bubble around the usual tempo.
Mixed into a typical DnB set, I can see (and have felt) the appeal immensely. But I am as yet to figure out if it can really work on its own. So here I give you my second exploration into drumstep:

So the last time I said I was re-starting my site was in August, and nothing happened. Well it’s happening now. I have a deadline I have to meet (i.e. getting out of my dead-end job before I quit in May ’12) and I don’t intend on missing it!

Also, there’s a project I’ve been doing research for over the past few months, and finding like minded mentalists to get on board. So that will be coming out as and when things materialise.
